Methodology

How we get to the number

There's no black box. Four rates turn your traffic into recovered sales, then we take off the discount and what you'd pay Flux. The maths alongside updates with your inputs.

We only count one thing: shoppers who hesitate on price, negotiate, and land on a number above your floor. Nothing else Flux does is in the total.

Assumptions

Why our defaults sit on the low side

These are our estimates, not measured results from your store. Here's the thinking behind each one - and you can change any of them above.

10%

open a negotiation

Most visitors never get near a price decision. They browse, bounce, or just aren't ready. We only count the ones who tap to make an offer, and keep that share small.

55%

reply at least once

Opening the chat isn't the same as engaging. We assume almost half leave after the first message and never make a real offer.

40%

of those, Flux closes

Flux never goes below the floor you set. When a shopper's number sits under it, there's no deal - and we assume that happens more often than not.

10%

average discount

Every closed deal is modelled at 10% under list. You set floors and rules per product, so you decide how deep it can ever go.

Put together, about 2.2% of visitors become a recovered sale at our defaults.

Upside

What the estimate doesn't count

The calculator counts one thing: negotiated sales on your product pages. Here's what it leaves out on purpose.

No code to leak

A negotiated price is private to one shopper. There's no public discount code for coupon sites and browser extensions to pick up and spread.

Discounts sized to the deal

A sitewide code hands every buyer the same cut. Flux finds each shopper's yes-price above your floor, so the discount fits the deal instead of the calendar.

The second order

We count one order per recovered shopper. Each one is now a customer you can email and retarget - repeat purchases aren't in the number.

Stock that sits

Aged or seasonal stock can move at a floor you choose, privately, without a public markdown that resets what shoppers expect to pay.

Pricing you can learn from

Every negotiation shows what shoppers actually want to pay, product by product. That's pricing data you'd normally need weeks of A/B tests to get.

AI shopping agents

Flux works with agentic commerce, so AI assistants like ChatGPT can close a price for a shopper. Shopify reported AI-driven traffic to stores up 8x year on year in Q1 2026. None of that is modelled.

Downside

When it could come in lower

Know these before you bank on the number.

Mostly low-intent traffic

Blog, social and giveaway traffic browses more than it buys. Fewer shoppers reach a price decision, so fewer negotiations start.

Very low price points

On a $10 item most shoppers won't bother - there's not much to win. Flux earns most where the price is a real decision.

Floors close to list

If your floor sits near your list price, fewer offers clear it. That protects margin but closes fewer deals than the model assumes.

Some would've bought anyway

We count every closed deal as a recovered sale. Some negotiators might have checked out without one - your floor caps what that can cost you.

Month one isn't month three

Floors and rules take tuning to your catalogue. Expect early weeks to look different from where you settle.

Revenue isn't profit

Recovered revenue is before product cost, shipping, payment fees and tax. Flip on 'Show profit' above for a margin view.

The only number that matters is yours

Run it in parallel. See your real number.

Switch Flux on for a handful of products and leave everything else exactly as it is. If it closes nothing, you pay nothing.

The fine print

  • This calculator is illustrative. It isn't a forecast, a guarantee or financial advice, and your results will depend on your traffic, products, prices, floors and rules.
  • The default rates are Flux's own conservative estimates. They aren't measured results from your store or an average across Flux merchants.
  • "Revenue recovered" assumes each closed negotiation is a sale that wouldn't have happened otherwise. Figures are before product costs, shipping, payment fees and taxes.
  • Plan prices match our pricing page at the time of writing. Commission applies to the negotiated order value only. Figures are shown in USD for illustration - you're billed in your store currency.
  • Annual figures assume your monthly volume holds flat for 12 months.

Are there any upfront costs or monthly fees?

Flux is free to install, no setup fees and you can choose the right plan for your volume. It has three pricing tiers: Free at $0/month + 5% commission, Growth at $69/month + 1.5% commission, Pro at $299/month + 0.5% commission and Enterprise custom pricing available upon request. Paid plans include a 14-day trial, and commission only applies to completed Flux-assisted sales.

How do Boosts work for vendors?

Flux turns your regular discounts into Boosts — smart, AI-powered offers your customers actually understand. Instead of generic promotions, Flux translates your discount into instant spending power your shoppers see before they even step inside. With Boosts, you can showcase your offers in real time, reach customers without needing their personal data, and watch how they react live. Flux’s AI simply helps you look after your customers, win new business, and drive more foot traffic — all automatically.

How is monthly negotiated revenue calculated?

It's the total value of sales that Flux closes for you in a calendar month. We only count sales where a Flux negotiation closed the deal. If a customer buys at full price without engaging Flux, that revenue isn't counted.

Why join the waitlist?

Joining the waitlist is free — and it puts you first in line for priority placement, early access to tools, and exclusive perks before our public rollout.

What happens if a customer refunds their order?

If an order is refunded, the commission for that order is automatically reversed. You only pay on revenue you actually keep.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There are no contracts. Uninstall Flux whenever you want and you stop paying commission immediately. There's no penalty for leaving.

How am I billed?

Shopify merchants are billed through Shopify's built-in billing system, with commission charges appearing in your Shopify admin alongside your other app fees. Merchants on other platforms are billed directly via Stripe. Billing runs monthly — no manual invoicing, no chasing.
