Checkout security: what stores should know about Flux

How checkout works with Flux, what we’ve strengthened, and simple steps to protect your shoppers.

Flux checkout security update: agree a price, then continue to the store checkout.

Reports updated on 19 October described shoppers on some Shopify stores being sent to fake checkout pages through other app integrations. These pages were designed to steal card and personal details.

Flux is not among the apps identified in those reports.

As a precaution following this wider industry news, we reviewed how Flux handles the shopping journey and further strengthened our safeguards.

Your shoppers pay through your store

Flux helps shoppers agree a price. Once they accept a deal, they continue to your store’s own Shopify checkout to pay.

The Flux negotiation window does not ask for card details.

What we’ve strengthened

  • We’ve tightened how product and offer details appear in the widget.

  • We’ve strengthened the checks behind discount creation.

  • We’ve added regular checks to help spot unexpected changes to our Shopify widget.

Security is ongoing work. We’ll keep reviewing and improving these safeguards as Flux evolves.

A quick check for your store

Occasionally walk through your store as a shopper, from a product page to checkout. If a payment page or its web address looks unexpected, stop and check it before entering any details.

Protect your Shopify and app accounts with two-step verification, and regularly review who has access.
